2.5" Anthophyllite and Garnet Sphere, Fireworks Stone, Iridescent Blue Gold Crystal, not Arfvedsonite #3
$96.00
This is a sphere of iridescent gold and blue Anthophyllite with sparkly deep red Garnet and Cordierite. It may also have Gedrite mixed in with the Anthophyllite. Anthophyllite is an Amphibole mineral with gold to blue iridescence. The golden crystals appear almost black until the light hits them at the right angle and their golden luster shines. There are small bits of deep green Epidote, and the white looking areas are Cordierite and is more clear up close, some of it also sparkly. There are very tiny bits of Pyrite too. This sphere is so much prettier in person - even video doesn't do justice to the color, sparkle or iridescence.
You will receive the exact one shown.
Measures 2.5 inches in diameter
Weighs 15.2 ounces / 430 grams
Anthophyllite is almost always mislabeled as Astrophyllite or Arfvedsonite but neither of those minerals fit the bill of occurring with Garnet, and having both gold and blue iridescence, and forming totally in "brush shapes." Astrophyllite is gold to bronze colored - never blue, and forms mostly in complete radials - it does NOT occur with Garnet. It is also a much softer mineral. Arfvedsonite is a dark, opaque mineral that is black to bluish black - never gold, not shiny or iridescent like these stones. It looks closer to black tourmaline than the stone you see here. At some point there must have been a miscommunication, mistranslation or other mistake and now those names have become more popular than the true names of the minerals in these stones. Many suppliers will tell you it is only called "fireworks stone," a made-up marketing name - not a type of mineral.
Anthophyllite is a stone for looking within. It used to strengthen self learning, contemplation and introspection. It is used to let go of limiting beliefs.
It is associated with the solar plexus and base chakras.
Garnet is named after the pomegranate, and has been sacred to many civilizations throughout history. It has been much associated with blood as well. Garnet is used for creativity, protection, physical and sexual love, inspiration, good luck, and success in business.
At one point Garnet was thought to protect one from physical harm in battle, though they have also been used as weapons similar to bullets.
Garnet is the birthstone of January, which has signs Capricorn and Aquarius.
Almandine Garnet is associated with the Root Chakra.
