This is a raw piece of rare, real Astrophyllite from Eveslogchorr Mountain, Khibiny Massif, Kola Peninsula, Russia. It is very lustrous with shiny gold to bronze bladed iridescent crystals that hold up to the meaning behind the Greek name for "star leaf." The long blades are beautiful and the white matrix gives great contrast in these specimens from Russia.
There also appears to be some Gedrite in this specimen, which looks very similar but black. These occur in a white matrix stone. When Astrophyllite and Gedrite occur together without other minerals, it is also called Nuummite, Nuumite or Nummite.
